Elegant powder rooms are our homes’ hidden jewels, so why not decorate it like one? When I was asked to remodel the powder room of a beautiful Tudor-style home, I jumped on the opportunity to give this small space a bold twist we don’t often see in traditional white or neutral powder room designs. Nothing’s timid about the final product!
Take a closer look at this royal transformation below:
As you can see, creative planning and lots of experimenting was needed for this super tight space. Such a small, dingy and extremely dated powder room called for a complete floor-to-ceiling makeover. The toughest challenge I faced during the remodeling process was making sure everything actually fit in this 5 X 8 space. The solution? Small-scaled hardware and accessories!
I designed the powder room shown below as an extension of this home’s unique style and aesthetic – materials included! Beautiful oak doors were a running theme throughout the home, so I decided to add wood details in the powder room as well. A custom, oak pedestal topped with a hammered copper sink is such a beautiful decorative detail that really brings this room to life. The oak material was even incorporated as a custom cover for the radiator!
I also added textured wallpaper, hung in a diamond-shaped pattern (with nail heads at the corners), to enhance the room’s décor. Such lovely and intricate details give this tiny room a pop of personality without overwhelming the room’s other decorative elements – a diamond-shaped mirror (do you see a theme here?) and a small, but elegant faucet.
