Delicious Restaurant Design Details

Though my interior design firm concentrates exclusively on high end residential projects, I find inspiration everywhere I go. I enjoy frequenting restaurants not only for the delicious food and atmosphere, but I am often inspired by the interior designs and details of many eating places. I love to incorporate elements I see out in the world, often in non-residential settings, that would enhance my clients homes both aesthetically and functionally.

Let’s take a look at some of the restaurant designs that have caught my eye recently…

Penny mosaic floor at Committee Boston

This bustling new spot in Boston’s Seaport is popular for its tasty Greek tapas and creative cocktails, but what really caught my eye here was the restaurant’s creative bathroom design! It’s full of unexpected and fun details like a floor tiled with pennies and a large pot in place of a traditional sink basin. While these details might be a tad too quirky to replicate at home, it’s always delightful and inspiring to see familiar elements used in an entirely different way.

Lighting at Kava Neo Taverna

Hanging pendant lights are having a moment right now, but it was the interesting rope detail that really caught my eye here at Kava. These lights fit perfectly with the intimate aesthetic of this cozy South End restaurant but could just as easily work in a rustic-chic kitchen or dining room.

Statement Lighting at Andrea’s Las Vegas

Among other things, Las Vegas is the spot to scope out truly over-the-top designs spanning from fabulous to dreadful. This lighting installation at Andrea’s certainly qualifies as fabulous! Reminiscent of hundreds of glittering Champagne flutes, it’s as breathtaking and luxurious as a Las Vegas hotspot ought to be. Though recreating this look as it is would be extreme at home, I could certainly envision a scaled down version making a chic statement in a dining room.

Place setting at Ze Kitchen Galerie

Table Setting Details at Ze Kitchen Galerie

I had the wonderful opportunity to experience the tasting menu at Ze Kitchen Galerie in Paris late last year! When experiencing a fabulous restaurant, even the tiniest details can make a big difference. The place settings at this restaurant included a small stone rest for the silverware which I found to be different and delightful! And while many restaurant design elements would be out of place for the everyday, I could see these fitting right in at a chic home dinner party.

There are so many beautifully designed restaurants out there, and in turn, no shortage of inspiration. Which restaurants designs do you love? Could you ever see yourself incorporating designs like these into your own home? Let me know in the comments!
